Winter wonderland

We have just got back from an awesome trip to Borovets, staying at our Apartment there in the ski village.

The snow was thick and I have not been in such heavy snow-fall before, so it was exciting and great fun. Just as well the Apartment is well heated and the heated towel rail was also good for drying washing. The temperature outside dropped to as low as -10c, which is the coldest I have been in the outdoors.

In the photos, Llewellyn is seen on the ski slope above the Borovets Village on the way down... the red slope was straight ahead, but we took the more gentle blue slope as beginners which crosses the red slope and goes off to the left. The Apartment is pictured in the last photo as well as in the several pics to the right of the blog page.

New friends in Borovets

One of the great things about Borovets is that it is a fun ski village where everyone can enjoy a good party after the day skiing.

Mama Citas, mexican pub is one of our favourites, as is Buzz Bar where we enjoyed a few beers and good company before getting into a late-night bed.. making the next day on the slopes a bit heavy going!!

Self-catering supplies

We found shopping supplies in the Ski resort a bit restrictive until we discovered that for less than €1 we could zip down to the nearby village of Samokov and shop in style for cheap groceries and supplies to stock up the Apartment fridge. In fact it was almost worth the trip just to go for lunch there and enjoy the wide variety of sliced meats and fresh bread rolls as well as beer and breakfast goodies.
